Application Management Specialist
Description
As an application management specialist you will be part of a team that maintains existing applications. Using cutting edge technologies you will troubleshoot issues that arise. You will be comfortable creating tools to monitor existing systems as well as work with the development team as necessary.
Candidates for this position should possess strong problem-solving skills and creative thinking. You should also possess the ability to prioritize and manage multiple issues that may occur at once. For some issues you may need to 'think outside the box' to determine the cause of the problem. Work may be an individual effort requiring the ability to function independently, or a team effort requiring close cooperation and negotiation skills with other team members.
You will also work closely with the Infrastructure and Security Teams. You will support our infrastructure team in creating plans, designs and then implementing the technical architecture and infrastructure. The solutions are mostly based on Windows and Intel platforms. Our network services provide internet work strategy, architecture, assessments, network design, remote access solutions, implementation and operations support.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To troubleshoot application issues that arise and determine the best possible solution to them
- To be able to write and understand technical documents
- To define, create, and complete technical tasks without a great deal of guidance
- To provide feedback to project managers and team leads
- Ability to learn and implement new technologies quickly
- Ability to provide support service 7/24
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Strong knowledge of SQL 2000/2005/2008
- Knowledge of .NET technologies including VB.NET, ASP.NET and C#
- Clear understanding of object-oriented and multi-tier design
- Knowledge of development tools and server platforms
- Knowledge of relational database design and development
- Knowledge of server administration and support
- Experience with Monitoring Tools
- Solid grasp of Application Architecture and Design
- Solid grasp of Integration with Systems, Networking and Security
- Experience with SharePoint 2003/2007+ is an asset
SOFT SKILLS
- Ability to work with others and individually to accomplish project goals and achieve customer satisfaction
- Excellent English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Effective time management skills
- Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills
CONSULTANT CANDIDATES MUST HAVE
- Have a university degree or equivalent combined with experience in application support or development
- Have a commitment to continue building new skills and continue learning
- Possess or working towards professional certifications, particularly in Infrastructure and/or Development
