Data Architect
Description
With a focus on our clients' strategic data needs and an awareness of the highly visible and mission critical nature of the projects that you will be assigned to, you will act in the role of Data Architect for T4G. This is a technology leadership role that is charged with the successful execution of projects, promoting technology expertise internally at T4G as well as outward. T4G is the preeminent Business Intelligence organization in the country and as such this role is accompanied by significant responsibility.
As a Data Architect, you are accountable for the successful implementation of customer engagements including design, development and deployment of data centric projects. Data Architects are highly proficient in technology scoping, development, risk mitigation (both from a technology and business perspective), along with providing team leadership.
You will provide expertise in enterprise data architecture, which may include elements such as metadata management, business semantics, data modeling and metadata workflow management data schemas. You will also support Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Developers providing mentoring and leadership to those around me.
Responsibilities
- Architect and design Microsoft BI environments
- Analyze and interpret customer's requirements
- Participate in and support the design and development phases of client projects
- Perform dimensional modeling and reporting
- Database design
- Data model design
- Lead the solution definition and estimation in support of customer proposals
- Lead and mentor development team in delivering defined solutions
- Lead the resolution of performance tuning and optimization efforts related to system scalability as users access a solution and data volume increases
- Support client acceptance testing process
- Flag risks and provide feedback to project managers and team leads
Skills and Experience
- At least 7 years experience in practical hands-on Microsoft implementation with at least 3 full lifecycle engagements and at least 1 SQL 2008 full lifecycle engagement
- Performing in-depth analytical reviews of certain business processes, independently or within teams of end user staff
- Knowledge of BI architectures, relational and dimensional data modeling
- Experience delivering data warehouse solutions including data extraction (ETL), reporting and ad hoc analysis tools
- Experience with other BI tools sets (i.e. SAP, SAS Crystal Reports, Web Objects, Hyperion) would be very beneficial
- Experience capturing and analyzing requirements from business users
- Experience working in a process centric development environment
- Experience delivering projects in a consulting services firm considered an asset
- The ability to identify project risk
