How Far Would You Run for a Second Chance?

T4G’s David Baxter is willing to run 72 kilometers – almost two full marathons – to give adolescents a second chance.

If David raises $5,000.00 by Sunday, July 15th, he’s agreed to run the 72 km distance from the T4G Saint John office to the Portage Atlantic Recovery Trail in Cassidy Lake.

That distance might seem a little crazy, but David thinks the pain is worth the opportunity to raise funds for the Portage Atlantic Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Centre and help adolescent residents there who may be “at rock bottom”, but are hoping to change their lives through the centre.

“I’m a big believer in second chances,” says David. “I believe people should have the opportunity to get their lives back on track.”

“My father was always a guy who was giving people second chances. He helped out several young guys by giving them jobs and life coaching them to lead great lives. All of those guys showed up at his funeral and it had a big impact on me.”

That “big impact” translates into 72km for David on Labour Day – but only if he hits his fundraising goal.

You can help give second chances and support David’s run by donating to the Stride for Success Relay.
