TORONTO, June 9, 2011 - T4G would like to thank everyone that took part in Ecommerce Camp7 on June 6th. It was a great networking event discussing the future of e-commerce platforms in Canada.
T4G's Director of eCommerce, Jay Milroy, took part in a panel discussion centered on whether companies should build their own or buy e-commerce platforms as the industry crosses the Rubicon to tremendous growth in Canada. Jay said:
"This is the 7th ecommerce camp event and it continues to grow each time. It is great to see the growing interest in ecommerce and even better to connect with a community of individuals who are making ecommerce a more significant part of their business strategies.
Google's presentation of Canadian specific research was great to see (instead of the more common US centric stats). The stats confirm that ecommerce is an important and rapidly expanding channel for retailers that cannot be ignored. Some key points from the Google presentation are:
77% of Canadian are online, 82% of them shop and 52% of those spend an average of $1446 each. This will drive the Canadian online spend from the current $16 billion to over $30 billion by 2015. In addition, Canadians are using their smart phones to perform 10% of all searches in Canada."
The evening was interesting and informative for all involved. It was a captivating experience that left everyone looking forward to next year's event.
