Within about 18 months, many consumers will be reaching for cellphones at the checkout instead of wallets, and much of the enabling technology is being developed at the north-end Halifax offices of T4G Ltd., a growing Canadian information technology services company.
Executive vice-president Mark Fraser said Friday the looming introduction to Canada of the digital wallet is about much more than using a cellphone to pay for groceries or clothing.
“It’s about getting the most value possible through loyalty programs and promotions; this and countless other features will all be available from the digital wallet,” said Fraser.
T4G and mobile technology firm Mozido LLC, based in Dallas, announced they are partnering for the provision of mobile financial services in Canada. The companies are working in the Caribbean to roll out a multi-channel transaction services platform.
